Festive fun for all

The great Christmas countdown gets into high gear in Stranraer this week.

Providing an action-packed start to this week’s activities in Stranraer is the Road Runner Christmas Party from 6-8pm on Thursday night at the Castle Square.

It is the perfect way for youngsters to begin the final countdown to Christmas with an evening packed with fun and games and your favourite cartoon characters.

Parents can take advantage of the late-night shopping for that last-minute gift you haven’t had the chance to buy.

Saturday begins with Christmas music at noon and Bruce McKenzie will be compering live from 2-5pm to add extra fun and sparkle into the last Saturday before the big day. Mascots will be helping the young ones to get even more excited about Santa arriving.

From 2-4pm, the YMCA will be giving everyone the chance to take part in Christmas baking decorating, along with festive fun and games for everyone.

If you want to do something more relaxed and sedate, carriage rides will be available around the Castle Square from 1pm, complete with sleigh bells to really put you in the mood for a special Christmas.

To round off the Christmas events programme for 2013, singing sensation Scope – aka Lewis Schofield – will be performing live at the Castle Square from 3.30-4.30pm as well as signing autographs for all his fans.

The Millennium Centre is hosting the very popular Rock’n’Roll Christmas, which features a variety of bands guaranteed to bring you that festive spirit from 8pm onwards.
