Fatal collision driver named

Police Scotland report that the female killed in the road crash on the A74(M) just north of Junction 20 (Eaglesfield) on the northbound carriageway yesterday has been named as 39-year old Faranza Kousar from St Andrews Street in Glasgow.

The crash involved two vehicles, a white coloured Mercedes Sprinter van being driven by a 57-year old man from Wednesbury and a silver coloured Toyota Avensis car.

The deceased woman was believed to be travelling in the Toyota car with a man, who left the scene of the crash shortly after it happened.

Police Scotland are still trying to trace a man who was accompanying the deceased woman in the Toyota car. This man is believed to have received a lift from a lorry driver to the motorway services at Johnstonebridge. He is described as a man around 30 years, of Asian appearance, about six feet tall, dark hair with long sideburns, and was wearing a black coloured quilted Barbour style jacket over a dark jumper which had the letters FC in white on it, dark trousers and may have had a wedding ring. He may have a head injury. This man was last seen at the petrol pumps and then the main building at the services between 0600 hours and 0630 hours on Monday 22 December.
