The AGM of Wigtown Agricultural Society took place recently.
This was Ross McKie’s last year as chairman and he was thanked for all his hard work over the past two years. Stepping up from vice to the top role is Jim Wallace of Claycrop, Kirkinner, while Kenneth Adams of Torhousekie, Wigtown, was elected as the new vice-chairman.
The show owes members and supporters a huge debt of gratitude for their support both financial and in kind during the year, which allowed the field and maintenance work to be completed. This combined with an extremely well attended show has put the society on a sound financial footing as well as possessing a much improved Bladnoch Park.
The annual membership fee for 2014 will be retained at £12, which gives free admission to Wigtown Show and the car park, members’ pavilion and grandstand on show day. Membership fees are an important part of the society’s finances so new members are always encouraged. Please contact the secretary Helen McColm (01988-860233, email email@example.com) for the membership form to support your local agricultural show.
The next Wigtown Show will be on Wednesday, August 6, and plans are already underway. Suggestions for judges in all sections are requested by the first week in January. They can be made to the secretary or any committee member.
The AGM was rounded off with tea and coffee in the pavilion and the opportunity to socialise with other members.
