David Ferguson from Drannandow receives the Champion Salver from Haig Murray

The annual Dunbia Border Blackface Carcase Competition held last Tuesday, January 21, in Llanybydder was won by a Newton Stewart entry.

A show of 120 single lambs were judged by procurement manager in Llanbydder Nia James and the results were as follows.

Champion and first in Heavy Class, winning the Salver was Drannandow Farms, Newton Stewart, with reserve champion and first in the Lightweight Class from Troloss Farms, Elvanfoot.

Heavy Class 18-21kgs: 1. Drannanow Farms, 2. M/s Kennedy Mitchellhill, 3. M/s Cavers Sorbie, 4. Troloss Farms, 5. Mrs CM Reid, Westloch.

Lightweight Class 14-17.5kgs: 1. Troloss Farms, 2. M/s Armstrong Crossfell House, 3. M/s Wilson, Hutlerburn, 4. M/s Coubrough & Co, Whelphill, 5. M/s Walker, Drumbuie.

Haig Murray, procurement officer for Dunbia, said: “The lambs were an amazing show for quality, and a credit to both their breeders and finishers.”
