FAMILIES who were told last week they wouldn’t be given the keys to their new homes in Port William before Christmas were given some festive cheer on Tuesday.
The 14 Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership homes hadn’t been signed off by Building Control as scheduled, and the families who had been all set to move in were told the delay could stretch beyond the Christmas period.
But on Tuesday this week, all keys were handed out to the tenants.
A DGHP spokesperson said: “All 14 tenants have been signed up for the new properties in Port William.
“Everyone seemed delighted with their properties, and were please that they received their keys before Christmas.
“While we had anticipated some delay due to the houses not being signed off, we managed to get everything through in time to allow the families to get the keys ahead of Christmas.”
Originally, DGHP had said: “It is absolutely imperative that we ensure the properties are of a standard acceptable to us and our tenants and that they are in fact complete, with all the final checks made.”
