A row between two families on Boxing Day in the Isle of Whithorn was resolved in Stranraer Court this week.
Peter O’Neill, 38, of The Park, Whithorn, was fined £300 for behaving in a threatening manner towards a man at Boyach Crescent, Isle of Whithorn, on December 26 last year and his co-accused Stephen McCrone, 40, 8 St Ninian’s Terrace, Isle of Whithorn, was fined a total of £725 for shouting and swearing at police officers and resisting arrest by struggling violently. The court heard a dispute had arisen between the two men and another family in the village. Defending O’Neill, agent Michael Kilkerr said his judgement that day had been “clouded by alcohol”. Representing McCrone, Ian Milligan said his client thought the police wanted to speak to the third party and he “lost the plot” when he realised they were arresting him.
