THIRTY-NINE households in the Station Road area of Newton Stewart were without power on Tuesday after a fallen tree brought down power cables and blocked the road.
A spokesman for Scottish Power said: “Private contractors were working in the area felling trees. One of the trees brought down overhead lines and the supply was off to 39 customers from 11.40am to 3.15pm. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
The tree felling was being carried out in the garden of Creeview, Station Road.
A spokesperson for the health and safety executive said: “We were notified about this incident by a member of the public and we are making inquiries.”
