Elderly man dies after A713 accident

An elderly man has died following a one-vehicle accident on the A713 near Castle Douglas.

Police Scotland say following the incident near to the entrance leading to Grennan, a 95 year-old man from Dalry sustained injuries which proved fatal.

The man was freed from the vehicle, a green coloured BMW, which crashed at around 3.40pm on Tuesday 31 May.

The man was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he later died.

No other vehicle was involved in the crash.

A full crash scene investigation was carried out at the scene and the road was closed for a number of hours.

Police add that the Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
