ENGINEERS at Kirkcudbright Swimming Pool have just completed installing their new state of the art bio-mass wood burning system.
The system sees a totally renewable heat source that should realise around 80 percent of the pool’s heating requirements. The pool was being heated by gas, but was awarded funding from Community Energy Scotland with help from the local authority to install the new wood system.
With energy costs constantly rising, the pool is striving to reduce running costs to enable the survival of the facility that is vital to the local community. Directors and staff at the pool are extremely proud of their new green credentials and are looking forward to showing the plant off at an Open Day on Sunday the 1st of May. The event will be called the Big Pool Party and will include guided tours around the new boiler room, guided tours around the new gym extension, half price gym introductions, a tabletop sale in the community centre and funtime sessions in the pool. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions regarding the pools new additions.
