Driver was doing 102mph

A DRIVER caught doing speeds of up to 102mph on the A75’s “suicide straight” has been banned from the roads for nine months.

Christopher Thompson, 47,
from Telford, was en route to Stranraer for his job as an installations manager when police clocked him driving along what Sheriff Kenneth Robb referred to as the “suicide straight” near Carsewalloch, Creetown, at 10.40am.

Lawyer Ian Milligan said Thompson was running late and hadn’t driven dangerously, just too fast.

Sheriff Robb also fined Thompson £700 and told him the stretch of the A75 is so called due to people driving in the middle of the road and into oncoming traffic, and that his “extreme speed” could have spelled catastrophe.
