Creetown Drama Club picked up a third place trophy in Dumbarton at the weekend’s Scottish Community Drama Association one-act play festival west of Scotland regional finals.
The finals, scheduled for Stranraer, had been postponed following the snow storms two weeks ago. Three plays went ahead in Stranraer before the snows came, and five more teams played this weekend at the Denny Theatre, Dumbarton.
Creetown’s play – Nobody Here but us Chickens – by Peter Barnes, was described by the adjudicator Dave Bennet as “very challenging for an amateur group”.
Creetown, who were representing the Stewartry after winning at Lochside Theatre in February, won the Scott Bowl, a trophy presented to the western division by Donald and Catherine Scott from Newton Stewart in 1967. Creetown last won it in 1990.
