An injured satellite TV engineer was dramatically rescued from a rooftop in Stranraer on Sunday.
The dramatic scene took place in Dialriada Avenue after the engineer dislocated his hip while working at a house. Clinging on 20 feet up and in severe pain, he had to remain there until a team from East Kilbride, specially trained to use ropes, arrived to get him down.
A spokesman for Fire and Rescue Services said: “We received a 999 call around 2:40pm. A crew from Stranraer Fire Station reached the scene around 10 minutes later and they immediately moved to assist the casualty, who was positioned on a dormer roof approximately six metres above ground level.
“He received treatment from a paramedic and a firefighter while a specialist fire service rope rescue team was sent.”
