Former Lord Lieutenant of Wigtownshire, Terry Brewis, was made a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order by Her Majesty the Queen at an investiture in London on November 11.

Mrs Brewis, who lives near Ardwell, served as the Lord Lieutenant for this area for eight years.

The Royal Victorian Order was instituted by Queen Victoria on 21 April 1896 as a reward for personal service to the Sovereign.
