Brothers deny assault

TWO Whithorn brothers who deny assaulting a man in a bar in the town will go on trial next month.

Stephen Hoodless, aged 25, of Kings Road, and his brother Scott Hoodless, aged 23, of St John’s Street, appeared at the Sheriff Court in Stranraer on Monday to deny assaulting John Flannigan by striking him over the head with a bar stool, causing him to fall to the ground and, while he was there, repeatedly kicking him on the head and body to his injury in the Calcutta Inn, High Street, Whithorn, on September 18 last year.

They also pled not guilty to a second charge of shouting and swearing at Kerrie Flannigan and throwing glasses and their contents around the bar the same night.
