A 78-year old Creetown man was killed in a road crash early this morning on the A75 at Skyreburn, Gatehouse.

William Lupton, known locally as Carson, from Chain Road lost his life after his Ford Fiesta was in collision with a Vauxhall Vivaro van and a Citroen Berlingo van shortly after 7am.

There are no significant injuries to the other two drivers or the single passenger in the Citroen, according to police.

The roadway was blocked to allow crash investigation work and diversions were in place until shortly before 5pm. The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.

Vehicles - inparticular HGV drivers - were being warned not to attempt short-cuts and to use the diversions in place.
