THE Creetown Initiative has teamed up with The Stove artists’ collective to bring a new six-month community arts project to the village.
The project was launched this week with help from the children from Creetown Primary. It will see a series of creative workshops open to local residents, exploring ideas of signalling and communication as well as fun, engaging, community events leading to a new, permanent artwork for the village.
“We are really excited to have been selected for this project,” said representative of the Stove, Will Levi Marshall. “Most of our members are from Dumfries and Galloway so we are keen to work with communities across the region. This fits with our commitment to engage local people in creative activities.”
The project is funded by the Creative Place initiative, which awarded Creetown a prize of £40,000 last year to spend on arts events. The first events are in late February. Creetownians can email email@example.com to get involved or can join the project’s facebook page, www.facebook.com/inspire.creetown to keep up to date with this and other projects.
