Council to waive road closure charges for Jubilee

DUMFRIES and Galloway Council are showing their support for local communities by waiving charges for road closures at any event connected with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

A spokesman said: “It was agreed to waive the standard administration charge (£294) for a Temporary Road Closure Order and that any associated advertising costs would be met from the allocated budget.

It was agreed that any costs for signage required for events would need to be met by the organisers. However, charges may be waived if the organising community wants to collect the signs themselves and erect them in accordance with a plan, then return them to the depot.”
