Council to appoint ‘ward workers’

Members of Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Communities Committee will meet on Thursday 20 October and will be asked to approve an amended model of Ward Working, as a result of ward boundary changes.

The fifth review of Council boundaries was undertaken by the Boundary Commission for Scotland in 2014. The findings of this review in regards to our region are that we will have the number of Councillors cut from 47 to 43.

There will be a ‘Ward Worker’ for every ward, with some of these posts being a Ward Manager and having a small number of additional functions including supervising and supporting up to three Ward Workers to ensure effective joint working and collaboration across the Ward Teams.
