Pupils and staff at Kirkcudbright Academy gathered together to celebrate the opening of a new kitchen in one of the school’s classrooms last week.

The kitchen has been funded by Castle MacLellan Foods, Kirkcudbright and Howdens Kitchens, Castle Douglas.

Mr Tuffery, Rector at Kirkcudbright Academy, said: “We are delighted that Castle MacLellan Foods and Howdens Kitchens have been able to fund a new kitchen in one of our classrooms. It will enable many pupils to develop their skills in kitchen management and business enterprise as well as providing an excellent facility for the whole school community to make use of.”

Mrs Whiteley, representing Castle MacLellan, part of the Kavli Group, said: “Our staff voted for this project to be funded and we are all so pleased to support the school as many of our children have attended as pupils.”

Adam Hutchieson, S4 pupil, made a speech on behalf of Kirkcudbright Academy, emphasising how happy the pupils and staff are with the final design.
