Children’s book set locally launched

A MESMERISING new children’s book that features the varied landscape and landmarks of Dumfries and Galloway was launched on Saturday in Wigtown, Scotland’s National Book Town.

Charlotte’s Woolly Yarn, A Spin Around South West Scotland is the work of Kirkcowan author and illustrator Shalla Gray. This is the first book for the busy mum of four who also run’s the village shop and post office.

The book, which follows the journey of a young sheep who loses her fleece, was launched at the Box of Frogs bookshop in Wigtown on Saturday July 7th with a reading by the author.

A colouring competition was judged, by Shalla, at the event and the prize of a cuddly sheep and a signed copy of the book was awarded to seven year old Cody Gray from Kirkcowan and Hamish Gilmour who is also from the village.

The new book has been published by Galloway Children’s Books, an imprint of GC Books of Wigtown and is available from booksellers and shops throughout the region or direct from the publisher at www.gcbooks.co.uk
