The primary four class at Penninghame school has been performing “The Gruffalo” in Scots at several venues recently.

The class topic this term has been Enterprise, so the children formed a company which has been involved in performing the play and making and selling Gruffalo merchandise.

The children have performed at Newton Stewart Library, Cornwall Park Care Home, Wigtown Library and, on Tuesday, were at the Riverside Day Centre.

There will be a final performance to parents today (Friday).

The children have worked so hard and their audiences have thoroughly enjoyed the show. They have also been given the chance to buy fridge magnets, keyrings and reusable bags – all with each child’s own customised Gruffalo design printed/drawn on.

The children have been learning about profit and loss and, with the money they make, are funding the majority of their end-of-term trip to The Coco Bean, where they will make chocolate and learn about marketing it.

Thanks to Ann McShane, family learning coordinator, for funding the company and organising for Renita Boyle to help produce the show.
