AROUND 150 parents and supporters of Kirkcudbright pre-school crammed into its base at St Andrew’s and St Cuthbert’s church hall on Saturday for a coffee morning fundraiser to celebrate the group winning its first Eco-schools green flag.

A raffle - with all prizes donated by local businesses - home baking, face painting and an eco-quiz competition all helped to take the cash total to £700.

Pre-school treasurer Lesley Pickthall said: “I am really pleased with all the donations. There are a lot of kind people out there. I think it’s wonderful that everyone has been so generous. A lot of Kirkcudbright and Castle Douglas businesses gave raffle prizes and all the cakes were baked by the parents.”
