Local band Scruffy Buzzards are headlining the first of the Mill on the Fleet sessions this year.
The opening Mill Sessions at the Gatehouse venue will feature Richie Hamilton (guitar/vocals), Kim Ayres (bouzouki), John Traynor (bass/vocals) and Bruce McKenzie (percussion/vocals).
The band produce a dynamic, driving, rootsy acoustic sound, with original songs from the yearning to the foot stomping. They will be supported by Zoe Bestel, the emerging Wigtown star who has been playing and singing most of her young life. Armed with just her trusty ukulele, “she does simple beautifully”. As a songwriter, Zoe’s quirky style has been likened to Kate Nash, Eliza Doolittle and Lily Allen.
It promises to be a fabulous evening in the company and outstanding talent of some of Galloway’s very own rising stars. It will be in the Faed Gallery at the Mill on The Fleet, Gatehouse of Fleet, at 7:30pm. Call 01557 814458 or 814647 to reserve tickets (£8).
