Young farmers hold annual dairy stockjudging

Machars Young Farmers held their Annual Dairy Stockjudging at East Mains Farm, Kirkinner, by kind permission of the Robinson Family.

There was a great turnout of 141 competitors. First overall and First Lady on the night was Jill Sloan. Second Overall was Jock Cowan. Third Overall was Drew Sloan. First Young Farmer was Rose Nash, and First Junior was Heather Cousar. The novelty class of “Guess the value of the winning chicken” was jointly won by Jock Cowan and Stuart Fitzsimons.

The club must thank the hosts for providing a fantastic turnout of stock and putting on an excellent spread of food and drink, the judge, Mr Graham Morton, and the sponsors, Douglas Dairies, Agri Input Ltd, ForFarmers, Tarff Valley Ltd and Penkiln Sawmill for providing a great range of prizes.

The next event will be their Beef Stockjudging on Friday 2nd of Septemberat 7pm at Palmallet Farm, Whithorn.
