The Cannon family hosted the West and Central Scotland Suffolk Sheep Club Open Day last Saturday at Redbrae Farm near Wigtown.

The breeders came from all over Scotland to tget the change to study at close quarters the flock that was named the west and central Scotland Suffolk Club’s best medium flock, best overall flock and best stock ram in 2012.

This honour follow hot on the heels of Jim’s three-year-old ewe winning the Suffolk championships and overall championships at Stranraer Show and then the Suffolk championships both Wigtown Show and Dumfries Show.

After a stock judging competition and a tour of the farm, the guests enjoyed a barbeque and refreshments before heading home.

John Christie, the chairman and of the west and central Scotland club thanked the Cannon family for putting on such a show of prime lifestock and being such genial hosts. He also thanked Robert Fleming for judging the competition.

Jim Cannon said: “I am delighted with how today has gone. The weather was ideal, we had a great turnout of people and everything ran smoothly. Hosting the event has been hard work but when the day is a success it is worthwhile.”
