Agricultural students studying at the Barony College in Dumfries had their annual end-of-term prizegiving recently and there were notable achievements for some local students.

The Kilco International Dairy Trophy for the best dairy student went to James Vance, Sloehabbert Farm, Whauphill; the Robert Beamish Memorial Shield for the student who put most into the countryside and environment courses was won by John Birse, Drumraik Farm, Creetown; William McMillan, Garheugh Farm, Port William got the Alisdair Clark Memorial Award for the best stockperson and the Student President Award went to Stuart Mactier, Boghouse farm, Mochrum.
