STORE & BREEDING SHEEP

1622 Breeding and Store Sheep sold at Newton Stewart’s second Sale of the season.

Breeding sheep sold to a top of £96 for a pen of Cheviot Gimmers from G Cuthbertson, Lochton Mill. 153 Mule Ewe Lambs averaged £69.59 selling to £79 for two pens. The first pen was from M/s J Howatson, Risk and the next pen was from M/s J McKenna, Gass, Kirkcowan. A small show of 51 Blackface Ewe lambs sold to £50 from D Brisbane, Little Tongue and averaged £49.61. The 1400 store lambs would see the trade slightly down on the big trade seen at the first store lamb sale here. They were topped at £61.50 for a pen of 79 Suffolks from M/s J McKenna & Sons, Gass, Kirkcowan followed by a pen of 57 Texel and Beltex Lambs at £57.80 from Michael McCornick Barquhill. The 1400 sold averaged £47.55.
