Wigtown sheep breeder Jim Cannon and his daughter Jenni, from Redbrae Farm, were thrilled last week to sell one of their home bred tup lambs for 10,000gns at the Suffolk breeders sale at Stirling.

This was the biggest sale of the 55-year old farmer’s long career. the previous biggest price he has ever received at the annual Stirling sale was 1000gns.

Jim said: “I knew he was a good lamb right at the beginning. it’s just a case of looking after them and getting them to the sale in one piece.”

The seven month old tup was sold to George and Melvin Stuart, Milton of Birness, Ellon.
