This year Machars Young Farmers reaches its 70th anniversary and to celebrate this the 2014 members held a Beef Stock Judging and Barn Dance at Carslae Farm by kind permission of the Templeton Family on August 29.
A spokesman for the club said: “We had an amazing turn out of 170 competitors and many more there just to support the club and to enjoy the Barn Dance. As a club we would like to thank Richard Oxley and Select Bars, Colin Ferguson and Caroline’s Catering for supplying the drinks, music and burgers throughout the night. Also a huge thank you to Elizabeth Vance for being our judge for the evening.
The results of the Beef Stock Judging was:
1st overall: Stuart Galloway, Lisa Templeton, John Owen
2nd overall: Martin McCornick
1st Lady: Lisa Tmpleton
1st Junior: Eilidh Duncan
1st Young Farmer: Thomas Birkett, Tom Forsyth
Novelty Class: Helen McColm
MYF 70th anniversary dinner is taking place on Saturday, September 13 at the Douglas Ewart High School at 6.30pm.
Machars Young Farmers also have their sheep stock judging on Friday, September 19 at 7pm. This will be held at Boghouse Farm, Mochrum by kind permission of the Mactier family. Everyone welcome.
