Belties on tour

The Belted Galloway Breed Society held a small tour of two belted Galloway herds within the Dumfries and Galloway area.

The destinations were that of the Cairnsmore Herd at Bargaly farm by permission of Bill and Jane Landers and the Mochrum herd by kind permission of Mr David Bertie.

The day started of at Bargaly Farm where over 100 keen Beltie enthusiasts.

The tour of the Cairnsmore herd then took place with the visitors getting a chance to get up close and personal with the two main lots of cows.

There was then a visit to the famous Drumwalt Castle of Mochrum Estates, home of the Mochrum Belted Galloways. The day was highly successful for the society with a huge interest being shown in the breed. Breeders from all over the United Kingdom and also from Germany turned out with many travelling a great distance to take in the sights of the two herds. The breed has a very bright future.
