Logan Botanic Garden has achieved the highest Quality Assurance award of five stars from VisitScotland.

Following a recent assessment, the Botanic Garden, a popular visitor attraction that draws people from far and wide to the remote corner of the Rhins, has leapt from a four to an impressive five star experience.

VisitScotland’s five star award recognises a world class tourism product and is awarded to businesses which deliver exceptional customer service and quality.

Paula McDonald, Regional Director of VisitScotland, said: “I am delighted Logan Botanic Garden has achieved VisitScotland’s five star visitor attraction award. This is down to the passion and hard work of the team based there who have succeeded in offering top quality in every aspect of the visitor experience. Logan Botanic Garden is a very special place and offers those who visit an unforgettable experience.”

Richard Baines, Curator of Logan Botanic Garden, said: “The five star recognition awarded by VisitScotland is testament to the dedication of staff working in the Garden, restaurant and shop at Logan. The new rating also reflects the investment that has taken place to improve our visitor experience. Our latest investment, the construction of a large Victorian Conservatory and due for completion next spring, will help to improve and expand what we already have on offer. We look forward to showcasing our new improved facilities in 2014 and invite everyone to visit for ‘a day out in Paradise’.”

SNP MSP for the South of Scotland Dr Aileen McLeod tabled a parliamentary motion congratulating the gardens.

Dr McLeod, who has previously sought to boost the profile of the gardens as a location for filming and artistic events, said: “This is fantastic news for Logan Gardens, and in my view richly deserved. It is recognition of the hard work that all of the staff and Curator Richard Baines have done to make this a really first-class visitor attraction. Logan Gardens really is a hidden gem and well worth a visit. It is only the third garden in Scotland to be awarded 5-star status. I hope that Visit Scotland’s award will help to boost the profile of the Gardens and encourage people to visit them. It is well worth the effort.”
