Body could be missing fisherman

THE body of a man in his early 20s washed up on the pier at Port Logan last weekend is thought to be that of a fisherman who fell overboard in seas off Ireland.

Police began investigations following the discovery of the body on rocks at 2.30pm last Sunday and a spokesman said this week that there is a man who went overboard a fishing vessel en route from Northern Ireland to southern Ireland who remains unaccounted for.

The body was discovered after Clyde Coastguard were alerted to what appeared to be a body just after 11am and a post mortem has since been carried out in Glasgow.

Police have yet to officially confirm his identity.
