This Sunday, August 7th, the Rotary Club in Newton Stewart is preparing to welcome motor bike fans of all ages and persuasions when the main street will display a collection of bikes, both classic and new. The day promises to be fun for all the family.

Ian Simpson, champion rider, will be leading the ride in from New Galloway and will be around for the rest of the day, talking to other bike lovers. Spaces on the ride- in are still available. (Further details from www.thewheeliegoodbikeshow.org).

Live in the Riverside car park, there will be local bands playing a variety of music. Local band Steve Dowling and The Obliviates will be playing a mix of 70s, 80s and 90s with their own distinctive twist. Underground Dark, a three piece from Newton Stewart will be playing their set later in the afternoon. The two main bands will have support from African drummers, bringing some African sunshine, whatever the weather.

As well as all things bike, Galloway Alpacas will be bringing two of their prize winning alpacas for visitors to get up close and personal. Alpacas originate from Peru and the Inca tribes use the wool to make wonderful garments from their fleece. The fleece is spun into light but strong yarn, which is then dyed and knitted or woven into long lasting, colourful garments. Garments made 5000 yrs ago, are still being discovered today through archeological excavation in extremely good condition and colour.

There will be a retail area selling motorcycle related items and other goods. Food and drink will be available from cafes, restaurants and hotels in and around the town, offering a variety and range to please everyone. Traders in the town will be open for this special day and there will be a pedestrian shopping area.
