Dumfries and Galloway Council agreed to implement its major festivals and events strategy 2014/2017 this week.
Councillors at Tuesday’s policy and resources committee agreed to a total of £250,000 from their to support events such as the Wigtown Book Festival, which will receive £37,000.
Also cashing in will be the Merrick Stage Rally with £10,000 and the Wickerman festival with £17,000.
Dumfries-basedBig Burns Supper will be handed a whopping £45,000 a year for three years and the Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival (2015) £30,000 .
The other big winner is to be Women’s International Ice Hockey with £35,000.
