Port William Primary School took part in a clean-up at Second Sands Beach on Thursday, June 6. The sun shone brightly and 62 excited pupils headed down to the beach to meet Nic Coombey, the coastal ranger. Once we were given our litter pickers, black bags and gloves, we set off on a mission to find rubbish. We were pleasantly surprised by how little rubbish there actually was. However, we did find cans, plastic bottles, old rope, lighters and a Christmas tree decoration! On returning to the school, we washed our hands and the community council handed out drinks and a flapjacks they had baked the day before to all the pupils. A vote of thanks was given by Adam and Graeme, while Jack and David thanked Steven Jolly for taking all the fantastic photos.
Report by Brogan Lockhart, Jack Lochhead and David Campion.
