Lucky four-year-old Ben Rivenell, of Holmpark Drive, Minnigaff, was the winner of the recent competition in The Galloway Gazette.

By cleverly knowing the answer Ailsa Craig to the question “what is the big rock in the sea near Girvan?”, Ben won a signed copy of The Quite Big Rock by Alan Grant and Shalla Gray.

Ben went along to Wigtown Book Festival’s children’s marquee last Sunday to collect his prize in person and meet the author, illustrator and Samson seagull.

The Quite Big Rock is the first children’s book written by the famous comic book and graphic novel writer, who lives in Moniaive. The book has been published by Kirkcowan-based Curly Tale Books.
