Staff of the Clydesdale Bank in Newton Stewart were delighted to hand over a cheque for £500 for Newton Stewart Hospital funds on Tuesday.

Bank manager Elspeth Lindsay on the left, and Customer Services Officer Helen Miller, with son Jack on the right, presented the cheque to Marnie Andrews and Sheila McLean of Newton Stewart Hospital.

The money was raised through the Clydesdale Bank book stall. The stall was set up by the staff so that anyone could either buy a book in the bank for £1 or alternatively hand in any books that they have finished with to sell on to help raise money for the hospital.

Elspeth Lindsay said: “We would like to thank everyone who donated books, especially Margaret McQuarrie who gave us enough books to get us started. All book donations are gratefully received.”
