The charity Home-start Wigtownshire, based in Stranraer, has been awarded £5000 in the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland Awards for October.
Homestart were granted the money to go towards volunteering expenses to work with 60 vulnerable families in the year.
Homestart Wigtownshire coordinator Mary Wilson said: “Home-Start Wigtownshire is delighted to receive a grant from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland (Henry Duncan Awards) for £5000. This will be used towards volunteer expenses enabling the scheme to continue/extend our support to local families with at least one child under five.
“Volunteers provide practical and emotional home visiting support to families throughout Wigtownshire and may also assist at our family groups which are held in venues in Newton Stewart, Sorbie and Stranraer.

The Henry Duncan Awards focus on local charities working at grass roots level. A total of 43 Scottish charities shared £780,000 funding in the Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland Awards.
