Wigtown Book Festival organisers have been overwhelmed by the take-up of workshop places for best-selling author Louise Welsh, who will be appearing at the inaugural Wigtown Writers’ Gathering on Friday, May 3.
The Wigtown Writers’ Gathering is an opportunity for writers to meet, talk and form new connections. The gathering’s focus is to support established and emerging writers in developing skills.
Acclaimed author Louise will be running two workshops, and writers will also have the opportunity to have one-to-one consultations and break-out sessions with publishing professionals, including Dumfries and Galloway-based literary consultant Inga McVicar (of Full Paper Jacket), Allan Guthrie, Rab Wilson, Carolyn Yates, Dr Helen Day, Debbie Williams and Helen Bleck.
Adrian Turpin, director of the Wigtown Festival Company, said: “Wigtown is the perfect place to bring writers together, and we are delighted to host this exciting new event. It will be chance for anyone interested in writing to improve their skills and to exchange ideas. It’s also a great way to kick off the four days of events and activities of Wigtown’s Spring Weekend festival.”
Tickets are £7 (exclusive of VAT and fees) from wigtownwritersgathering2013.eventbrite.co.uk. Places for the Louise Welsh workshop and the one-to-one sessions are very limited.
