A FAMILY travelling with a 14-month-old child were left shaken when a man began punching their car on a Stranraer street.
Stranraer Sheriff Court heard that 21-year-old Jonathan Gowdy stepped in front of the family’s car at around 9.30pm on September 8.
The car was making its way along Dalrymple Street when Gowdy’s actions caused the driver to brake harshly. Gowdy then moved and the car continued, but he chased it and began punching the windows. The driver’s partner, fearing for their safety, locked the doors and called the police.
Lawyer Michael Kilkerr said Gowdy had dropped his mobile in the road and had stepped out to pick it up, then taken umbrage at the harsh braking.
Sheriff Kenneth Robb imposed 100 hours of community payback.
