Archie’s 50 years of service recognised

WHITHORN resident Archie Taylor retired recently after serving as the Registrar in the town for 50 years.

Archie was appointed a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages on 16 July 1962 and since then has registered 1,434 deaths and 707 marriages and conducted 268 civil marriages.

Eighty-seven-year old Archie received a special certificate from Dumfries and Galloway Council in Whithorn Library presented by Justin Tracy, the council’s Director of Community and Customer Services, to mark his long service.
