Approval given to 56 Leswalt houses

APPROVAL was granted for the building of 56 houses in Leswalt this week.

Olympus Developments Ltd were given the nod for the development at Challoch, which will include 14 affordable homes and will almost doube the size of the village.

Objections were lodged on the grounds of a loss of privacy; traffic concerns, parking issues, sewage and drainage worries but these were not considered by councillors to be sufficient grounds for refusal.

Concern had also been raised over the capacity of the primary school, but a council report into the application shows that the school roll is expected to fluctuate between 36 and 42 over the coming few years and the school can hold 60 pupils.
