The sixth RNLI Parkfest is taking shape ahead of its date in the summer diary in a fortnight’s time.

The Stranraer event – a live music festival with family entertainment, a licensed bar, dancing and much more – will be headlined this year by some well-known faces from the 90s and early 00s.

Agnew Park will come alive for teh RNLI fundraiser on the weekend of Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August with music from the ‘Young Guns’, giving youngsters the chance to have their music heard on a big stage with a live audience.

The acts taking part include Third Fret, Murdo Mitchell, Split Shift, Hardwicke Circus and Arcadium.

Saturday’s line-up sees performances from Sticks and Stones, the Razorbills, S-Club and the Dangleberries.

Saturday afternoon will also see Agnew Park filled with a fun fair, face painting, tattoos, bottle stalls, bouncy castle, pony rides, the marine lake with its pirate ship and boats, pedal carts, pipe bands, cheerleaders, lots more and of course Stormy Stan.

Chairperson Mandy Green said: “In the past we’ve battled torrential rain and floods, basked in sunshine, been shivering with the cold, experienced unbelievable stress, there’s been tantrums, tears and huffs, apologies and makeups, but it’s all been worth it.

“An incredible voluntary team of people give a lot of time and energy; the Park Fest Team & Lifeboat Crew in months of planning, the amazing hostesses of the greenroom, stewards, stage crew, the crew bar staff, runners, photographers, cleaners and general helpers and of course the musicians and performers - their hard work, time and support can never be rewarded enough. I have said this before, and sorry if I’m being repetitive, but the support we receive from the community, whether it be services in kind, sponsors, advertisers, advisors, media, really is invaluable, and our gratitude feels inadequate.

Tickets bought before 22 August cost £12.50; £15 at the door; Young Guns evening and children under 16 - £5; children under 12 are free (when accompanied by a paying adult) For tickets, call 0779 676 1568 or see Facebook: Stranraer RNLI Park Fest.
