Wigtown Book Festival kicks off

THE 2008 Wigtown Book Festival was underway this weekend as crowds of literary fans descended on the town.
Friday night saw things kick off with an anniversary dinner and firework display which was watched by hundreds of people from the town's Market Square.

The week will be filled with famous authors and TV figures who turn out every year to join in with the event.

Wigtown's festival has become a well-known event in the book world and this year's line-up will prove to be as successful as ever before.
