A MAN who stabbed his victim in the stomach with a 13-inch blade after jumping out of bushes on a Stranraer street faces a lengthy jail term.

Iain Proudfoot (29) plead guilty to assaulting John Brown to the danger of his life in Glasgow's High Court on April 23rd after attacking him with a friend's kitchen knife.
The court heard that Proudfoot had been heard making threats about hurting Mr Brown following an incident between himself and Mr Brown's girlfriend Claire Shingleton.
Proudfoot reportedly said of Mr Brown that he had been "watching his every step" and a row between the two ended in a threat of stabbing from Proudfoot.
At 11.30pm on the night in question, Mr Brown was making his way home in the town when Proudfoot jumped out of nearby bushes with a knife he had taken from a pal's kitchen and proceeded to stab Mr Brown repeatedly.
He then ran off and Mr Brown was soon rushed to hospital where it was discovered he had three stab wounds and required surgery.
Proudfoot originally denied the attack, despite admitting there was ill feeling between himself and Mr Brown.
Judge Lady Dorrian deferred sentence until next month.
