BOSSES at the Selkirk Arms Hotel in Kirkcudbright - reputed to be where Burns penned the Selkirk Grace - this week launched a wacky reminder of the Bard's famous poem.

To mark the 2009 Homecoming and to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Scotland's national bard, The Selkirk Grace now appears on the lid of every loo seat in the hotel.
Co-owner and general manager Douglas McDavid said: "We're so proud of the history attached to the Selkirk Arms and the fact that Robert Burns stayed in this very hotel. We need to tell the world that Burns' memory is alive and well and here in Kirkcudbright."
Chris Walker, co-owner and marketing director, said: "Earlier this year we created a unique real ale called 'The Grace' in conjunction with Sulwath Brewers.
"I happened to see the company Loo Prints at one of the summer agricultural shows and thought it would be nice to feature the Selkirk Grace on our loo seats. It's designed to make you smile at the end of the day and to raise awareness of the hotel's links with Robert Burns."
The Selkirk Arms Hotel, a traditional 17- bedroom town house, is undergoing its second phase of refurbishment this November as the two business partners continue their investment.
