VEHICLES speeding through the main streets of Whithorn are turning the town into "a racetrack".
That was the opinion of Whithorn Community Council chairman Jim McCulloch, speaking at the monthly community council meeting.
He called on the police to set up more patrols and called for the introduction of driver feedback sign on the roads into Whithorn.
He said: "I know myself when you get a message flashing up telling you what your speed is you automatically hit the brake."
Resident Francis O' Neill said the problem was particularly bad at present as there were so many tractors going through the town with loads of silage.
He said: "Some of these tractors have three ton of silage on the back of them. If they have to brake it could all come off and land on someone."
Police constable Nicola McFadzean said that the force would set up more patrols and there was an ongoing programme of driver education.
