The bi-annual Operation Joint Warrior will see troops descend on Galloway from March 25.
Running until April 15, the exercise will see the army, navy and air force come together for large-scale training exercises on land and at sea across the region.
The operation runs each spring and autumn in the hills and coastline of Galloway, which lends itself perfectly for a training environment.
An MOD spokesman said: “There is likely to be a substantial amount of fixed-wing and helicopter flying, particularly in the vicinity of West Freugh and Castle Kennedy airfields, Braid Fell, the Mull of Galloway, Fell of Carleton, Galloway Forest, Dalbeattie and surrounding area.
“Main convoys can be expected on March 24-25, April 3-5 and April 14-15, but with other military traffic on the A75 throughout this period.”
