Hundreds of children in Machars primary schools competed in Wigtown Show’s schools competition to design a Wigtown Show themed Saltire flag – tying in with Homecoming Scotland 2014 and the Commonwealth Games.

Entries were received from Creetown, Garlieston, Kirkcowan, Kirkinner, Minnigaff, Penninghame, Port William, Whithorn and Wigtown schools which can all be viewed in the Craft and Lifestyle Marquee at Wigtown Show on August 6.

Wigtown Agricultural Society chairman, Jim Wallace, was impressed by the high standard of artwork although it made judging very difficult. He congratulates all the children for participating and thanks all the school staff for accommodating the competition into their already busy schedules.
