Whithorn grand masters

Whithorn Primary School Chess Club had eight qualifying players in their Spring tournament of the Delancey Schools Chess UK Challenge who got to compete at the Megafinal in Airdrie this weekend. They all played brilliantly and the standard of chess was extremely high. Ciara Jolly in p7 won a rosette and qualified to compete at the next level in Manchester. Douglas Smith in p3 also won a rosette. The children all played excellent chess and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing against other schools. They were taken there by their chess teacher Hazel Smith & parent volunteer driver Katie McCormick who were both very proud of their efforts.”
